TERRORIST FINANCIERS CHARGED IN MIAMI WITH PROVIDING MATERIAL SUPPORT

A US citizen residing in Saudi Arabia, and a Kenyan national, have been returned to the United States, and charged with terrorist financing counts in Federal Court* in Miami. Gufran Ahmed Kauser and Mohamed Hussein Said have been indicted for:

(1) Conspiracy to provide material support to a Foreign Terrorist Organization.
(2) Attempting to provide material support to a Foreign Terrorist organization.

The defendants are accused for sending funds, via Western Union, for the use of Al-Qaeda, the Al-Nusra Front, and Al-Shabaab, in Iraq, Syria and Somalia. They also allegedly sought to recruit fighters for terrorist organizations operating in Syria. The investigating agency was the FBIs South Florida Joint Terrorism Task Force.
