PONZI SCHEMER SCOTT ROTHSTEIN'S LAW PARTNERS DISBARRED

Ex-Attorney Adler

The consequences of even tangential involvement in a Ponzi scheme can be life-changing. Convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein, who ran his criminal enterprise out of his South Florida law firm, and is now serving a 50-year sentence, lost his license to practice law as the result of his felony convictions. Now, his law partners, Stuart Alan Rosenfeldt, and Russell Samuel Adler, have both been disbarred by the Supreme Court of Florida.

Ex-Attorney Rosenfeldt
Neither Rosenfeldt nor Adler have been convicted of direct involvement in the billion dollar Ponzi, where ficticious legal settlements, for workplace harassment or discrimination were sold to unsuspecting investors; they were convicted of lesser offenses, albeit felonies. One law partner has been sentenced, the other awaits his fate. Nevertheless, it is doubtful, given the magnitude of the Ponzi scheme, whether any of these employment and labor relations lawyers will ever be readmitted to practice again, in Florida.

The rude lesson of the Scott Rothstein case: all the participants in the Ponzi scheme, no matter how remote their connection to Mr. Rothstein, are feeling the strong arm of justice, one way or the other.
